*There is a $40 hourly charge for special cases of any excessive glue/laminate removal or sanding or any problems that make the job take longer than the length of time it should normally require. The customer is responsible for removing all hardware and for shipping shells nested in one box. We remove the old covering material. Customer pays shipping both ways. Please do not even ask about rush jobs on recovering.
*Taping new covering; we do not recommend this double sided taping method because taped covering can bubble when it gets extremely hot. This is usually only done on cheap drums. Most, if not all, pro drums use glue to install wrap.We recommend that the covering be glued
*DIY rewrapping; We sell laminate and have instructions for the do it yourselfer.
How to wrap your drums
Wrap sizes, colors and prices
Hardware Powdercoating; $45 per drum, any color including chrome or brass powder coat color.
Painting $40 per hour plus paint. George's only does simple painting; hoops, shell interiors, etc. We also do wipe on lacquer clear finishes in satin or high gloss; We are not equipped with a spray exhaust booth or spray equipment to do high quality gloss paint jobs.
Mallet Instrument Repair
Bar tuning; $70 per octave
Bar refinishing $72 per octave
Custom stands and stand repair; please call for quote
This work is subbed out to a local mallet repair shop.
Cymbal Repair
Refinishing- $50 per cymbal. This is not simple polishing. This is deep cleaning and recoating of the cymbal to make it look brand new. This process removes all the original lacquer and all dirt down to the shiny original bronze which is then relacquered and buffed for a factory new finish. Print logos can not be saved in this process. Any deep scratches in the metal or deterioration of the bronze is usually not removeable. Please read George's informative article about cymbal refinishing.
Polishing - $30 per cymbal. This is surface cleaning of the cymbal lacquer and polishing with a cymbal polishing cream with a lo speed buffer. Print logos are more likely to survive this polishing but can not be guaranteed.
Crack repair; $30 per cymbal. We cut small cracks out with a machine to a particular shape cut that leaves most of the tone of the cymbal intact and inhibits further cracking. No welding or brazing. This does not guarantee that further cracking will not occur. All cymbals crack eventually.
Cymbal Sizzle Rivet Installation -$20 per cymbal, please state # of rivets. We suggest two and not more than six. Zildjian steel rivets are free with installation. We also have softer sounding Bosphorus brass rivets at $8 per pack which can be removed and replaced by the customer.
Cymbal hole grommet installation; $10 per custops deterioration and keyholing of cymbal hole. This is usually done for marching band cymbals to keep the leather straps from splitting but works well for drum set cymbals. We recommend doing this only to cymbals that have already deteriorated at the hole because this also reduces the size of the hole and you may have to reduce the cymbal stand sleeve or remove it altogether depending on the size of your cymbal stand.$10 per cymbal
Hand Drum Repair
Restringing and reheading of rope djembes $150 to $200, including head and new rope if needed, clean or with hair. Why so expensive?; labor time . It takes a long time to unstring and restring a djembe.
Conga and bongo head tucking: $40 plus price of skin
